Sending goods by sea transportation in International Trade can be the first choice bacause of the time efficiently and lowering ocean freight. PT (Persero) Pelabuhan Indonesia III Branch Tanjung Emas Semarang is the only one State Owned Company in handling arrival and departure of cargo vessel (either container or noncontainer vessel) in Central Java. Arrival and departure of cargo vessels are handled by Service Division. Their duties are giving service and handling documents as
application for arrival and departure of cargo vessel. There are other supporting facilities to handle arrival and departure of cargo vessel. For examples, services of shifting vessel and extension/shortening/cancellation of vessel.
The aim of this final project is to know, firstly procedures of handling cargo vessel on arrival and departure, secondly, services given by PT (Persero) Pelabuhan Indonesia III Branch Port of Tanjung Emas Semarang, thirdly, the issuance of bills for these vessels and real application of the above procedures.
The writing method of this final project is qualitative analysis. Data are collected by observation, interview and leterature study.
Mechanism of arrival and departure of cargo vessel starts from completion of ”PPKB” form at PPSA Division accompanied by the required documents. The next activities are to handle Pre-Arrival Meeting, then to handle discharging process, and finally complete of ”PPKB” form for departures of cargo vessel.
It is concluded that arrival and departure of cargo vessel can be handled by PT (Persero) Pelabuhan Indonesia III Branch Port of Tanjung Emas Semarang as the only one State Owned Company in handling arrival and departures of cargo vessel in Central Java. The exporter or importer must complete an application documents to get the service arrival and departure of cargo vessel. Finally, it is suggested that the exporter or importer and PT (Persero) Pelabuhan Indonesia III Branch Port of Tanjung Emas Semarang should improve communicationl for handling arrival and departure of cargo vessel more effectively and efficiently.
