This study is about the leadership style used in Badan Arsip dan Perpustakaan Provinsi Jawa Tengah. The possibility of effective leadership style in motivating performance civil servant at Badan Arsip dan Perpustakaan Provinsi Jawa Tengah. The main purpose of this research is to analyze the possibility of effective leadership style in motivating performance civil servant at “Badan Arsip dan Perpustakaan Provinsi Jawa Tengah”. The methods of collecting data are observation, questionnaire and literature studies. The questionnaires are distributed to 70 respondents of civil servants at Badan Arsip dan Perpustakaan Provinsi Jawa Tengah. The analysis methods are multiple linear regression, correlation, determination coefficient, t test, f test

The result of the research shows otocratic with t calculating is -0,654 smaller than t table is 1,667 with significant level is 0,515, coefficients is -0,063. it means there is no significant influence, democratic there is significant influence, it shows t calculating democratic variant as big as 5,550 bigger than t table is 1,667 with significant level 0,000, coefficients is 0,733, permissive with t calculating 0,890 smaller than t table is 1,667 and significant level is 0,337, coefficients is 0,074 there is a little influence and not significant . According to f test, the calculation of f which was 10,839 bigger than f table is 2,74 which means that otocratic, democratic, permissive variant influences the performance motivation. Meanwhile determination coefficient shows R square are 0,330. It means that 33% performance motivation variant is influenced by leadership style variant. Whereas the other 67% was influenced by the other variant which are not observed.

It can be concluded that democratic with significant as big as 0,733 it means effective leadership style in motivating performance at Badan Arsip dan Perpustakaan Provinsi Jawa Tengah. Perpustakaan Provinsi Jawa Tengah.
