The impact of export experience, export commitment and envoronment on export performance : a case study of furniture industries in Semarang Members of Asmindo
Furniture industries in Central Java have an important role for the sustainability of national furniture industries. Data show that there was a fluctuation in value of Semarang furniture export, even though in the last two years the value was increasing but it still not equaled with the decreased value in 2013. In order to bounce back from the downturn in 2013 and improve the performance of Semarang export furniture industry, this research was conducted to examine the impact of export experience, export commitment and environment on export performance either partially or simultaneously. The methods of collecting the data used in this research were questionnaire, interview, and literature review. Questionnaires were distributed to 48 export furniture companies in Semarang members of ASMINDO. The study method used in this research was multiple linier regression analysis. The calculation of multiple linier regressions showed export experience, export commitment and environment variables had significant positive impact on export performance and gave contribution to export performance of 66.4% while 33.6% were influenced by other variables that were not described in this study. It was concluded that the dominant variable which has the highest impact on export performance was environment variable, followed by export commitment, and export experience.
